Hi there. I have a canon vixia hf M300 which has worked well with my mac  mojave OS.   I now need to upgrade to monteray os.  Will my camera work with this system?

I assume it is Firewire? I can get videos off my Sony. However, note that the software to pull it off is getting rarer and rarer, Adobe no longer supports it.

I use a usb output from my Canon to the back of my mac 27'' monitor. I don't think that is firewire. Apple has stopped supporting the Mojave operating system and wants me to upgrade to Monterey which is 64 bytes.(if I recall correctly). My main concern is whether my Canon can run  this new Apple upgrade. Can it? If not, I will need to purchase a new system.

It depends on which software you use. Obviously, the hardware won't change if you go to Monterey. You could always put Mojave on a bootable clone and boot to that when you want to use the camera, while using Monterey for everything else.

There is no pressing need to switch. My wife is still on Mojave since she is loathe to move from iPhoto.

Thanks very much for your reply!   it was very helpful (especially about the fact of no pressing need to switch). I like the idea of a bootable clone, too. Thanks  again
