Canon VIXIA HF G70 Camcorder, No Signal Error with Field Monitor

Hello,

I bought the Canon VIXIA HF G70 camcorder because I was sure that I could use the FeelWorld FW279S field monitor with it. But every time after I connect the HDMI cable from FeelWorld field monitor to my new Canon VIXIA HF G70 camcorder, I keep getting a "No Signal" error on the FeelWorld field monitor. This occurs whether or not I have the camcorder turned on and while the FeelWorld field monitor is powered up. Please advise.

"No Signal" error resolved

I found out how to resolve the error when connecting a field monitor to a camcorder. To be able to connect a Field Monitor and not get a "no signal" error, you need to go into Display Setup > HDMI Scan Mode and change from "P" to "PsF"

Greetings,

Camera:

Check your HDMI output settings.

Also, where did you get the cable that you're using to connect the field monitor? Did it come with your monitor or did you buy elsewhere?

Hi shadowsports,

Thanks for your reply and for the suggestion.

I do not see a specific HDMI output setting option in my camcorder display. The only options that I see for HDMI are: * HDMI Max Resolution (in Display Setup menu) - set to 1920x1080 * HDMI Scan Mode (Display Setup menu) - set to P (Progressive)

In the System Setup screen, for the USB Mode, it is set to UVC.

As for the cable that I'm using to connect the field monitor, it came with the field monitor that I recently bought.

Do you have the HDMI output from the camcorder plugged into the HDMI input on your monitor?

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for your reply. Not quite, on my FeelWorld FW279S field monitor I have it plugged into the HDMI-Out. But then the cable is plugged into my Canon camcorder's HDMI Out. I don't see an HDMI In on my Canon VIXIA HF G70 camcorder. The only other slot that I see is a DC In. Please let me know if there is an HDMI In on my Canon VIXIA HF G70 camcorder and if so, if that is where I should plug it into. There is an HDMI-In on my FeelWorld field monitor, but I don't have any cable plugged into that.

Hi Stephen,
Attached is a screenshot from the Canon VIXIA HF G70 manual. Attached also is a screenshot of my viewfinder which shows some sort of "inaccessible" icon (red arrow points to it).

I bought the wrong SDCard and will receive the correct one in the mail tomorrow. So for now, I am running my tests without an SDCard. Could that cause the "No Signal" error I am getting?

Also, in the screenshot from the Canon manual, it says: "When you connect the camcorder to an external monitor for playback, use the HDMI OUT terminal. Then, select the video signal output configuration."

How do I select the video signal output configuration?

Looking at your pics you have the HDMI cable plugged into the wrong socket on the monitor. You need to plug it in to the bottom one which is labelled HDMI In.

In the pic you have the cable plugged into the monitor's HDMI OUT.

Hello!

Your camera is outputting a signal - it's capturing an image, converting it to digital while storing it to a recording medium (like an SD card), and/or showing a live preview of the image on an LCD screen. If you want to get that live preview OUT of the camera, you'll be using the HDMI OUT terminal from the camera, and connecting it to some sort of video INPUT, since you want the video to go INTO the device (monitor, hard drive, capture device, etc.). The image you posted above illustrates this.

The HDMI out on the camera is here:

Thanks lamintheUK, Thanks for your reply. Yes, it is now corrected. But I still am getting a "No Signal" error. Maybe having no SDCard at this time is the problem?

Thanks Stephen, Appreciate the explanation. What could the problem be since I still am getting a "No Signal" error after having corrected the HDMI connections. Do you think that having no SDCard at this time is the problem? What is the "A" error I am getting on my viewfinder?
