Canon GL1 Camcorder MiniDV cassettes

I have a 20-year old Canon GL1 Camcorder that I just turned on for the first time in about 18 years.  There are a few MiniDV cassettes I have with recordings on them.  What's the best way to get those recordings off the cassettes, and onto my computer?

Hi there,

For the best quality from this camcorder you would want to use a FireWire cable, except most modern computers no longer have a FireWire port. You might be able to find a USB capture device with FireWire inputs, otherwise it might be best to get a separate mini DV player with HDMI output.
