Can chips from one camera be used on another?

If my Vixia HF R82 is dead, can I put the chips into a new, different canon camcorder and have it download to my Mac? Thanks

By "chips", do you mean memory cards?  If so, that may work.  Note that different cameras may format or store files differently between models.  Do you have an SD card reader on your Mac?  If not, you may need to purchase one (many are quite inexpensive) in order to transfer your footage.
