I fixed it. The Windows Firewall was blocking access to the printer. For some reason, occasionally, a print job would print, which I cannot explain. Once enabled printing proceded as normal.

i learned this morning that the printer works perfectly from a different machine.. So I am going to reinstall the driver.

Yup, already tried that as well as Canon Support via email.I'm probably half a step for it going to the dumpster.
