I have been thinking about getting a lens that would take close up pictures what would you suggest

I don't know if I'm explaining my question right, but I have a few lenses that are a bit big and it world be nice if there was such a mount, kinda like a mono pod but smaller so I can strap to my chest on one end and connect to my camera on the other...

What I'm wondering is it really worth getting, I'm still learning about dslr cameras, and was thinking about getting some sort of attachment so I can take wider more long distance shots. Don't know to much about it does anyone have info
