580 exii shooting black

ok my 580exii now is firing in ettl but shows a black picture and whewn i goto manual its blows it out like the picture is solid white

ive had it 3 years. i know speedlights very well. when its in manual at f22 it is a white screen from to much light at 1/128 power of the flash..thats its weakest..it should show a dark shot not blown out
