Why am I tied to using My Image Garden. I bought a printer and should be free to use any software

I don't like My Image Garden, I bought a printer and should be free to use any software that I shoose to. Being tied to My Image Garden is like a Mobile Phone contract, I want to use an alternative Program, why can I not?
