No, It connected via wireless per the setup instructions. The only wire to the MG6220 printer is the power cord.The installation from the DVD also updated all of the Canon programs and registered my new printer. I have answered my own question.
Check that the ink tanks are not jamming against the left side of the printer. When I used too much hot glue to seal the tanks they jammed and gave a chunking noise as they tried to pass to the left under an overhang.
