I have a Powershot SX50 HD and the software doesn't recognize my camera ... says camera not found. I am running on a Mac Mini with the latest OS Mavericks.
I had come to that conclusion as well, and thought I should try to reinstall the software, and will as soon as I can find the original software disk. In the meantime, I bought a universal card reader for $12, and plugged it into my computer. It works...
