EL-1 (Ver 2) Modeling Flash not firing with R5 Depth-of-Field preview button?

If I have read the manual correctly the EL-1 Modeling/Modelling Flash should fire when I press the depth-of-field preview button on the front of my R5 (Mark 1)? I have C.Fn-02 set to 0 but no joy, did I miss something? Thanks in advance:-) Peter
