EL-1 (Ver 2) Modeling Flash not firing with R5 Depth-of-Field preview button?

If I have read the manual correctly 🙂 the EL-1 Modeling/Modelling Flash should fire when I press the depth-of-field preview button on the front of my R5 (Mark 1)?  I have C.Fn-02 set to 0 but no joy, did I miss something?  Thanks in advance:-) Peter

Hi @peterwbaker welcome to the forums. Modeling Flash is NOT possible from ANY speedlite. When mounted and used on EOS M & EOS R series cameras. Also the IR AF Assist Beam doesn’t work either on EOS M & EOS R cameras. The main flash tube will fire an Intermittent flash burst (Intermittent Flash Firing Mode) to help the camera AF in low light. When mounted on EOS R series cameras EXCEPT for the EOS R100 EOS M series. Or the camera body can project an LED AF Assist Beam. There is NO user configuration to change this.

@peterwbaker You should be able to use the LED Modeling light though. But Modeling Flash is NOT possible. You can turn the LED Modeling light on with the “Lamp” button.
