What is the best way to reattached the encoder strip in PIXMA G3270 printer since there is not much room to maneuver ?

I have an error message involving a g3270 printer related to the encoder strip which will need repaired. Before I do that I would like to delete a document in the print queue but cannot get passed the error message screen to get back to the main menu...
