Confirmed: the camera recognizes the GP-E2 both with and without the AD-E1 adapter. I tested on the R5m2 and the R7.

Yes, the dedicated hotshoe (Canon GP-E2) is discontinued, but you can still find them on the secondhand market. You'll also need the adapter (Canon AD-E1) but I can confirm that if you have both, it works with the R5 II.

I am not EscapeVR, but I did delete and reinstall v1.5.11 and the issue remains.

I am having the same issue. I am on macOS 15.2, using Canon EOS VR Utility v1.5.11, which is the latest version I was able to download.
