I have read that lenses are not at their sharpest when open to their widest aperture, and perform best when stopped down one or two stops.
Try some shots at f/4 or f/5.6 and see if it makes a difference.

With those kinds of shutter speeds, we can eliminate blurriness caused by too slow of a shutter, I think.
Yeah, if you can, I would try another lens (preferably without the adapter) and see what you think.

Nice photo. I'm amazed that they sat up so high. It's interesting that the front wheels are smaller than the rear wheels. Made for easier turning perhaps?
