User Activity

I'm getting Code:2,140,3 and am not able to scan.  "Printer is in use or an error has occurred.  Check status.  Scanner driver will be closed."  What do I do and how do i do it?  
I'm in the US and have the same problem with my Pixma TS6220.  Code:2,140,3.  The official Canon explanation for the code in troubleshooting doesn't tell me anything I can use.  Please explain what I need to do and how to do it.  Assume I don't know ...
