External Flash Error for EOS R100 RF-S18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS
Hello! I purchased a Zeniko flash for my camera. I have enabled the flash firing and the flash itself turns on when taking a picture. The problem is the flash is not showing up in the actual picture, so my pictures are dark. I am also receiving an error message "This menu cannot be displayed. Incompatible flash or flash's power is turned off" in the External flash function settings. I am hoping that I do not have to purchase another flash, as I will need this in the next week or so🙃 I am a beginner at this, so any suggestions will be helpful thank you so much.

The EL-10 is INCOMPATIBLE with the EOS R100 as the camera lacks the new digital hot shoe found in most EOS R series cameras. Instead it uses the older 5 pin hot shoe found on all DSLRs and early EOS R series cameras such as the original R & RP. A compatible flash would be the 430EX III-RT or any other EX series speedlite. Also the EL-1 & EL-100 would be compatible too.

You'd have to take this up with Zeniko. As you've found, it's likely an incompatibility.
You'd be better off with a Canon flash (e.g. EL-10). Or, if going third-party, find a reputable brand that has their own dedicated trigger or known compatibility with Canon.

Well that's unfortunate; I had assumed (incorrectly) that the EL flash lineup would work across the entire R-series line.

The EL-5, EL-10 & ST-E10 all use the multi function hot shoe. They don't have contacts on the bottom like the older flashes do. They have contacts on the front edge of the flash to communicate with the camera. This is very similar to Sony's hot shoe devices. Also there is somewhat of a compatibility loophole with the EOS R50 & EOS R50V. In order to use older hot shoe devices they require the AD-E1 hot shoe adapter. These cameras lack the legacy 5 pins for older flashes. The only older cameras that require older EX flash units are the EOS R, EOS RP, EOS R5 (Classic), EOS R6 (Classic). There is NO reverse adapter to make the new EL-5, EL-10 & ST-E10 flashes work on older cameras without the new digital hot shoe.

The in camera flash menu will be available for you to control the flash now. You can also control the settings of the speedlite directly on it too. Also I would recommend that you pull up the manual for the flash too. So you can learn how to use it and get the most out of it too. 430EX III-RT Manual
