Speedlite EL-10 "Communication Error" with EOS R8 (BOTH NEW)

I purchased and received a Speedlite EL-10 to accompany my new R8. I did everything the instructions told me to do. However, the camera’s display reads “Communication error reattach accessory”. I’ve reattached numerous times and ensured the firmware was current (1.4.0 R8 / 1.0.0 EL-10). Any help is greatly appreciated. #r8 #canonr8 #speedlite #el-10

Are you attaching it with both the camera and speedlite turned off first. Then turning on the speedlite first then the camera on.

If the suggestion by Demetrius doesn’t resolve the issue, then I suggest that you reach out to the vendor or retailer that sold it to you.
