Hello there,
The numbers are missing next to the zoom (see image). This is in all modes eg: M, MULTI, ETTL etc.
The diffuser panel and card are all in place and working.
Unlike my 600EXT-RT there is no cfn 09 to set the auto zoom.
I can set the zoom (AUTO, 14MM, 24MM etc) options on my Canon 6DMKII under the flash settings. Or at least the options to do that appear.
I have cleared the settings on the speedlite by pressing the two clear buttons simultaneously and this has not changed anything on 'zoom' flash display.
Any ideas anyone ? Much appreciated. Mark.

If the flash is in the bounce position the flash won't display the zoom it only works with direct flash. Your flash is working correctly and also the distance information for E-TTL II is NOT used with the flash in the bounce position. So put your flash back in the direct position and see if the zoom position reappears if it does. Your flash is working correctly and there's nothing wrong with it. Your camera will display the flash's settings via the flash functions menu. I have an example picture displayed you should see this exact picture and you will be able to adjust settings from it. If you can't something is wrong with your flash.

Thanks for the reply,
Putting the flash back in the direct position does not make any difference. The number do still not display...sorry for not advising I had already tried that.
I can set the flash to ZOOM AUTO (in all modes) on the camera back panel when in manual mode at ETTL, but when I try to select any 'mm' value such as 24mm, 80mm etc I get the ZOOM WP on the back screen while nothing changes on the speedlite display. I currently have 80mm prime lens attached, but have tried a zoom lens also). So it looks like it will work on AUTO ZOOM but not any individual focal length settings. I am going to set it up against a wall and shoot some test shots it ETTL with different focal lengths and see what the light intensity results are on the wall...to see if the auto zoom is working...Any further comments or ides would be most welcome.

Firstly I have both Speedlite 600EX-RT and the Speedlite 600EX II-RT units.
There is no C.Fn 09 on the Speedlite 600EX II-RT, it was removed and the flash will always zoom to match the sensor size. This is the same as leaving C.Fn 09 on the Speedlite 600EX -RT in the default 0 setting.
When you tilt the flash head up or to the side both versions show --- on the display instead of the mm setting. You initial picture shows the flash with the head titled up to the 75 degrees position. Your later pictures show the flash with it tilted down, so this is why you still see the --- instead of the MM figures. I noticed that the icon of the flash on the left of the LCD shows a down arrow to indicate the head is angled down. The initial picture when it is angled up at 75 degrees show an up arrow above the flash head icon.
With the flash head in either up or down positions I can manually change the zoom position either from the camera menu, or from the Speedlite itself.
The wide panel needs to be fully pushed back in to place to stop it being detected, sometimes it looks like it's in the unused position, but is actually a tiny amount out of place. This is enough to make the flash think the wide-panel has been deployed. In such case I can see Zoom WP on the camera menu display.
I see no difference in the zoom display or wide-panel indication on the 600EX-RT and the 600EX II-RT.
