Sunday Morning Wildlife

Some photos from Sunday morning.  A cloud bank on the horizon blocked sunrise until it was about 20 degrees, so it was a little on the dark side for the first couple of shots here,  The marsh rabbit is a semi aquatic rabbit that is mostly nocturnal, but sometimes in the early morning they come out of the salt marsh and eat grass.  Notice it has rounded ears as opposed to most rabbits. It also feeds under water.  I did a lot of research on the marsh rabbit when one jumped into the water in front of my kayak and swam right past me, I had no idea until then.  The picture of the belted kingfisher is not too good, but I posted it because they are hard to get.  They are very wary of humans, fly extremely fast and not in a predictable way.  Unfortunately he caught me by surprise and the camera was a 1/800.  Sometimes they hover before a dive, I hope to get that soon.  This one is a male, I did get a picture of it's mate sitting on a sign, but pretty far away, even for 800mm.  Of course mockingbirds will almost pose for you, they are very curious.

Nice shots, hoping to get some wildlife shots soon, it is hunting season now and I don't want to be walking around with my camera, I have the orange gear and all, but I am on crutches as well.
