Well, in New Zealand, native wildlife means birds and a couple of small bats. So, while I prefer to photograph macro mammals, I guess I should share a few images of the locals...
Like many species, the Takahe is a threatened species with only about 500 individuals left. To learn about this check out this link: Takahē: NZ native land birds (doc.govt.nz)
I am a volunteer at the island of Tiritiri Matangi where these birds are reared in protected conditions and, when ready, are shipped down to their natural habitat in NZ's South Island. Tiritiri is a pioneering open scientific sanctuary that allows visitors under controlled conditions and is heavily supported by a volunteer group: Our Supporters/Our Vision – Tiritiri Matangi.
Here are a couple of shots: taken with the EOS R6 and the RF 200-800.

Eye to Eye
This male tiger was definitely giving me the eye...
I was given a privileged location as the keepers were doing some maintenance work on one of the enclosures of the tigers' habitats. As such I was able to get a lot closer to the big fellow than normal and he obviously considered me worth investigating.
The tiger area is made up of a series of discrete areas that can be isolated from each other for maintenance and to keep the male apart from the female and cub. Like most big cats, tigers do not socialize and only really come together to mate. The female is having a busy time teaching her cub, so is likely to be pretty intolerant of him.
