Thanks to the cartoons, I often forget that Tasmanian devils are real. 😅

Danny,

Tassie is real, however, I too like the cartoon version of the twirling, tornado like devil 😈  😆

Joe

Maybe not, there are rumors that there may be some thylacines around.

Devils are endangered in the wild because of a contagious tumor.

Hi kvbarkley,

You're correct, there have been a slew of sighting reports of the Tasmanian Tiger, (thylicines).  The decline of the Tasmanian devil population is primarily due to a "transmissible cancer called Devil Facial Tumour Disease (DFTD)" tassie-devils-decline-has-left-a-feast-of-carrion-for-feral cats. This disease, first discovered in the mid-1990s, spreads through biting and has caused a significant decrease in devil numbers decline.  Other factors contributing to their decline include "habitat loss, roadkill, and competition with other species.

It's a tough situation for these unique creatures.

Cheers,
Joe
