Parsley Bay Bridge, Sydney Australia in B&W and Color

Took two pictures of the Parsley Bay Bridge, one in Black and White and the other in Color.  Which is the better one for you, and Why?   I believe that both mediums are great!  There are certain subjects that one would shoot in color over black and white.  For example flowers, colorful birds, and landscapes.  But fine architecture and minimalist landscapes would typically be presented in black and white.  While, portraits, architecture, street photography, and animals can look stunning in both Color and B&W.

I would go with the color version due to the contrast in colors of the bridge, the greenery of the trees and the blue sky with some clouds.  I think if there were more cloud cover, the black and white version would be the better shot because it would show a bit more contrast between the bridge, trees and sky.  I my opinion, a moody sky would definitely enhance that composition in Black & White.  Still a nice shot either way but I would prefer the color version.  If it's not problem of you going back to that area, you should definitely go back on a cloudy day and see what happens.  Honestly, I'm just a sucker for clouds (lol) because they make everything better (imo).

Love the feedback, I also love clouds.  There were clouds, however I had to make a choice when cropping it to fit our website.  So, rather than cropping a larger part of the bridge I decided to crop most of the sky.  However, I agree with you the clouds do enhance the B&W more.   I wish I could just go back, however for me, it's a 15-hour flight from SFO.   😀

Hi Rick,

It's one of my favorites too.  It's great for landscape and for architectural photography.  Not to mention street photography and when space is limited like in museums.  I love the RF15-35 F2.8 L, it's so versatile,  It's also great for astral photography.   🙂
