OK, so, technically, this isn't "playing", this is a much-practiced and time perfected maneuver that puts the fish into a position where the cormorant can swallow it whole.

Once the cormorant spins the fish's head around, the flailing of its tail actually pushes the fish deeper into the cormorant's mouth.cormorant_double-crested_bolsa_25_11_28_L0A6377.jpgcormorant_double-crested_bolsa_25_11_28_L0A6381.jpgcormorant_double-crested_bolsa_25_11_28_L0A6389.jpgcormorant_double-crested_bolsa_25_11_28_L0A6393.jpgcormorant_double-crested_bolsa_25_11_28_L0A6402.jpgcormorant_double-crested_bolsa_25_11_28_L0A6404.jpg

Very cool series!  So if the fish were to "play dead" and be still would it then live to be eaten another day?

Great action shot! I'm thinking a sequence?
