Alstroemeria R5 Mark II RF100mm F2.8 L Macro IS USMAlstroemeria R5 Mark II RF100mm F2.8 L Macro IS USM

The Alstroemeria flowers are known for their vibrant, orchid like blooms with distinctive streaks and spots on their petals as seen on the picture.  They come in various colors, including yellow, orange, red, pink, purple and white.  Thet are native to South America, particularly in the mountainous regions of Peru, Chile and Brazil, which explains the common names like Peruvian Lily and Lily of the Incas.  The genus name "Alstroemeria" honors the Swedish botanist Baron Clas Van Alstromer, who discovered the flower in the 18th century.
