The happy accident of putting an 8mm Rokinon APSC fisheye lens on a full-frame Canon R8 has caused me to play around with decontextualization. The lens format mismatch to the full-frame sensor causes it, the fisheye bend adds to is, as does a black-and-white render, but the subject itself is decontextualized with the windows to the building's soul being blocked off. The graffiti simultaneously contextualizes (if you know what it means...I had to look it up) and decontextualizes (if you don't know what it means). Welcome to Bakersfield.
