Grainy B&W

Hi folks 

Just experimenting with special filters for B&W - this one with Grainy B&W.

Good detail on the stonework, but weak elsewhere.

The grain/noise is indeed elevated but I like that feeling.

Grain-free black and white pictures--these days--always make me think that someone has used AI to drain the life out of life rather than developing the skill to do it right the first time--assuming grain-free is desirable that is.

Conversely, because black-and-white has a yesteryear feel to it, the grain implies an authenticity that may or may not be warranted, but grain reads authentic.

I do a lot of black-and-white film photography and I skew toward Ektapan 100, Rollei Infrared, and FPP Xray film when I want lower grain and Ilford HP5 or Delta 3200 when I want grain. HP5 is "Grainzilla" and Delta and like adding in King Kong.
