Getting Lost in the Crowd

Herd animals that live on open plains with little cover need to use each other to be less of an individual target. I think that the zebra is an great example of how the use of stripes and gathering in close proximity creates a confusing target for any potential predator to isolate one victim.

The 200-800 helps to get up close and personal with them and the rest comes down to waiting for the animals to congregate in a group.
