Desert Shadows at Dawn

I was hiking in the early morning at Mesquite Dunes in Death Valley when I came upon this scene.  I was drawn to the shadows and front lit ripples in the sand.  I used a 5DIV and 24-105L lens to compose the image.

Good photo shot and well balanced with the plants and the "dark" dune at the right. How hot was it? Read that DV set record temps, average 108.5.

Hi John,

Thanks for your comments.  This photo was taken end of March.
Temps in 70s.  Perfect time to go there.  The photo looks decent in color with a lot of orange tones.

Beautiful ethereal image!  Lovely textures in the sand, the hills, and the sky, along with those wonderful long shadows.  Very nicely captured!

Thank you!

70s is much more comfortable. Could you post the color photo? Curious to see it.
