Charged $700 by Candler Support for help with PIXMA TR4725

Recently my scanner stopped working so I called Canon for support and they referred me to a company called Cantler Support who eventual got my scanner working but charged me over $700 for doing so.  I have checked them out via Google and they are reported having a shady reputation over charging being one of them.  Does anyone know anything more about this matter?

I strongly doubt that you were on a legitimate Canon support site.

Can you post the site you were on; not a link but XXX-dot-com.

I think you are right John.  They told me the scanner was unserviceable due to viruses.  However it was operational when they had finished.  However the charged amount was ridicules high and included a three year firewall protection program which on my computer under the firewall listing is nonexistent only Norton etc.  If I had known upfront the cost I could have bought a new laptop.  Oh well my bad!  The website was under Canon on Goggle.

Contact your credit card company. They might be able to help you.

thanks John I began to complete their form but they wanted Candler Support's zip code which I did not have and I could not proceed without the zip code.  thank you for your assistance re this issue.  My bank has locked my account and I have changed my passwords on my other accounts

Greetings,

You were scammed and ultimately tricked into providing personal financial information to criminals.  This wasn't Canon. I suggest you contact your financial institution and report the incident as fraud.  If you allowed them access to your PC, you should have it checked by a IT professional to ensure that it has not been compromised.  While this situation is unfortunate and we're sorry it happened, it's very important that you confirm the identity people you are entrusting your PC and personal information to.

You were not speaking to Canon support.
