I am using Windows 10 and the usb cable that came with the scanner. When I plug in the scanner, the computer says "The usb device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." When I attempt to scan something using the ScanGear, it "cannot communicate with scanner for these reasons: scanner is turned off; USB cable is disconnected." Error Code 5, 156, 69. I have used this scanner previously with the same computer. The lock switch on the bottom of the scanner is unlocked. The scan bar is on the button side, not the hinge side, of the scanner. I have tried to install new drivers. I have troubleshot my Universal Serial Bus controllers on my computer. Other usb devices work in the same usb drive. The scanner does not work in any usb drive on the computer. The computer is plugged in. I have wasted my whole day on this issue. How can I make this scanner work?

Hi rrozaieski,
Do you have a different USB cable that you could connect your CanoScan LiDE 400 to your computer with?
