We currently utilize CaptureOnTouch V5 Pro with our imageFORMULA DR-C225 II scanners. We were wondering if there was a way for Capture On Touch to prompt our users for a file name rather than having a default name assigned, and our users re-naming the file. At the moment, we have the file names created based on date and time, but some of our users prefer to set the file name initially.
Capture Perfect is an app they previously used and it would prompt for a file name prior to scanning. I have not seen a way to have Capture On Touch give users the same flexibility.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
Many Thanks in advance.

Yes!!! Our office is in the same boat. Got a new computer and can't get the old version. We scan several different kinds of documents all at once and need to be able to save the information without having to grab it back of the scanner. Most titles are complex enough memory is not helpful. Our documents are legal and must re-main in order and the less we have to thumb through them the better.

Hello,
CaptureOnTouch V5 Pro does not currently support prompting users for a custom file name before scanning, unlike Capture Perfect. File names are set through predefined templates using date, time, and counters. A workaround is to scan to a temporary folder and rename files manually or via a post-scan script. For full flexibility, you may consider using Capture Perfect or third-party scanning software that supports pre-scan file naming. dogsounds app

I just switched from HP Scan3000 to the Canon ImageFormula. How do you get this Capture Perfect so I can name my files without having to add additional steps to my already stressed work through?

Hi VickieGylene! Thanks for contributing to the community. I see you are looking for a way to change the file name before the CapturePerfect saves the image.
You cannot change the file name after the document has been scanned by CapturePerfect. You can make changes to the settings before scanning, but that process would likely take more time and effort than changing the file name after a file is saved.
I recommend that you look into using CaptureOnTouch. That program does have a "Edit after scanning" setting that can be turned on. This option has to be selected within the edit screen for the scanning shortcut.
When you open the CaptureOnTouch program, you will likely see the Standard Scanning view. If you do not see the Scanning Shortcuts, you will need to click on the chevron in the upper right corner of the screen:
The Scanning Shortcut window will look like this:
To enable the “Edit after scanning” option, please do the following:
1. Click on the edit icon on the bottom right corner of the appropriate shortcut:
2. Click on the OPTION tab and make sure that the “Edit after scanning” option is selected:
3. Optional: Use the drop-down box next to Job Assignment to select the number for your job (if needed):
4. Click on the CLOSE button:
Once the option for “Edit after scanning” has been enabled, you can make changes after your images are scanned. After you click on the shortcut (in the CaptureOnTouch window) or select the job at the scanner and press START, the image will be scanned and you will get this window:
To make changes to the Output Settings after you scan, you will need to click on the EDIT icon in the preview window. When the settings window opens, click on the OUTPUT tab. There, you can change several options (including the File name, File type, and Folder location).
After you change the file name, you can click on the CLOSE button. When the preview window reappears, you can click on the FINISH button in the lower right corner to save the image to the selected folder with the chosen file name.
I hope this information helps. Thanks again.

Thank you! I will try it. I have to admit, although Canon can make it possible to do more things, the HP interface is much easier. I did try finding the CaptureOneTouch, but I think your walk through will make it much easier!
