Just bought the Canoscan LiDE400 and I do understand about changing settings but no matter what I do, it saves everything as a PDF which I dont want or need. This happens regardless of whether I use AUTO or any of the other buttons. I also have an issue with it saving it to the right folder as well. Not sure what is going on. Any suggestions or ideas.?

Thread is 3 years old. Sorry you folks didn't get a response. If you select photo in the IJ scan utility, you can set the default save as file type as jpeg.
Canon : CanoScan Manuals : LiDE 400 : Settings (Photo Scan) Dialog Box https://share.google/eph0Xu8NRqQPT7CDc

Note you can save the default behavior for scans initiated from your computer or scans initiated from the device itself. Use the icons in the top left hand corner of the IJ Scan Utility to select the default behaviors for computer or scanner.
