CanoScan LIDE 400 MP Navigator EX 4.0 compatibility or suitable equivalent

Hello, I am frustrated.   Is there something similar to MP Navigator EX 4.0 that we can use with the Lide 400?

Years ago we started with Canoscan lide 200? with a version of MP Navigaator to scan in 13,000 old pictures with the scanner recognizing and separating several pictures in one scan, giving each picture a separate file name.  We have been faithful to Canon Printers and Scanners ever since.  But each time we upgrade laptops (wife and I, two same time) we have to buy new scanner because I can't get the drivers to work on the new laptops.

We prefer the Lide scanner to the operation of the G6000 printer we have.

So here we are today.  Two new HP windows 11 laptops.  New laptops recognize and works the Canon Pixma G6000.  Can't get either laptop to work with the lide 210.  Ok, as usual, lide is outdated, we bought new Lide 400 from Canon website.  Installed lide 400 just now.  Yes, it works when I touch the front pdf button.  BUT it names the file, and puts it in documents, with no input from me.  I searched the Lide 400 software options, and thought Canon Print was correct.  Ok, so I can open Canon Print app, and scan from it, BUT won't let me input file name and destination, DPI, and such.

Why this is important to us.  My wife scans in all my business work orders.  Open MP Navagator EX 4.0, input our file name (customer name - work order # - equipment type), then input the destination, hit scan, and continue to next one.  I cannot imagine the flack I will get if she tries to scan, then try to identify the lide assigned file name, then try to re-name it to our usual format, then verify it is correct.

I'm just an old machine repair guy, obviously I can't keep up to date on computers and Canon's current offerings.  If there is a softwareto fix my problem, please provide a link, because I'm not finding it on Canon's website.

Hi 2014maurice,

You can specify the file name and location of the saved image using the IJ Scan Utility.

To do enable this, please follow the steps provided in the manual here:

LiDE 400 > Windows > IJ Scan Utility > Saving after Checking Scan Results

I have not tried photo scan yet.  I am trying to scan in many work order documents.  I followed your link, and see that your suggestion might work for naming photos.  I saw a blue choice for info on document scanning, and followed that.  In "settings (document scan) dialog box, section B this paragraph :

Check scan results and specify save settings

Displays the Save Settings dialog box after scanning.

I cannot find a way to open or do this.

The problem remains that I have to go to settings before each scan, type in my file name (site_job#_equipment), then scan.  The file name shows as (site_job#_equipment_todays date_0001).  I then have to go to that folder, and erase the junk I don't want in the file name.  Next document is all the same steps.

MP Navigator was similar, but did not add extra junk to my file name.  Further searching of this community finds same complaints going back more than a year.
