Modification of custom shortcuts' Advanced Settings in CaptureOnTouch for ImageFORMULA DR-S150 result in "Cannot load driver" error on MacOS Sequoia 15.5.
I am sorry that I don't how to file a bug ticket to Canon in regard to software bugs but I think I found one.
Using CaptureOnTouch in macOS Ventura and Sequoia -- using the same CaptureOnTouch version and using the same configuration --, result in a different experience in regard to the "Use Advanced Settings Dialog" for a given shortcut. You can access these advanced settings when you click on Setting... as shown below.
In macOS Ventura, this has the expected result (as shown below)
In macOS Sequoia, you see an empty settings dialog box and a "Cannot load driver" error (but regular shortcut settings can be modified)
CaptureOnTouch has given in both MacOS versions full disk access.
To enable to use the network attached DR-S150 in MacOS, I installed (as of July 2025) the latest versions of:
- the driver DR-S150_TWAIN_Driver_V.1.3.24.0320.pkg (the driver)
- the software: CaptureOnTouch_V.4.15.24.1223.pkg (the frontend software)
- Optional_OCR_module_for_CaptureOnTouch_V4_for_Mac.pkg (the optional OCR module)
To test (and make sure I did not made a config error), I installed the three software pieces on:
- MacOS Sequoia Intel
- MacOS Sequoia M4
- MacOS Ventura Intel (in a VM)
Only on macOS Ventura -- and with an established connection to the DR-S150 network scanner -- I could access the Advanced Settings Dialog. Enabling or disabling the firewall of macOS makes no difference. When you don't have an established connection to the scanner, you get the "Cannot load driver" error straight away.
## Now here is what's weird.
If I alter DR-S150 shortcuts in CaptureOnTouch on macOS Ventura (including advanced settings), backup the config and restore it in Sequoia on my M4, the shortcut works and does use the advanced settings that I configured in CaptureOnTouch on Ventura. I just can't modify them in Sequoia without getting the "Cannot load driver" error.
Altering config setting in CaptureOnTouch on Ventura, back them up and restore them in CaptureOnTouch on Sequoia can be considered as a (cumbersome) workaround. Nevertheless, to me this sounds like a bug. Maybe Canon forgot to do a thorough quality check on this software on Sequoia.
If anyone can help to solve this or tell me how I can inform Canon about this, please let me know.
