I have a Panasonic X920 I am thinking of buying a HF40 and HF25 will be compatable with the X920

Compatible in what way?  The video format or something else?  One thing that may be an issue when using camcorders from different manufacturers is the difference in color as each uses a different lens and sensor.

yes i was thinking about video format and what effect mixing clips from the panasonic X920. I have mixed clips from a SONY camcorder to a Panasonic on the same timeline, but that was before HD format came into being. I use EDIUS PRO to edit my clips, but i think you have already answered my question, shame, because the HF40 sounds like a great camcorder.
