Canon c70 + digital IS greyed out in Raw LT rec format

Hi there

I recently started shooing my C70 in Raw LT and I noticed that digital IS  is greyed out when shooting in this rec format.

When I  switch into XF-AVC 10bit I can turn digital IS on and off again.

Seems strange.

Does anyone know about this?

I assume that if I see digital IS turned on in the other format it remains on when I switch to Raw LT.

Thanks Laurence

This isn't exactly a secret; it's in the manual, page 82, "Image Stabilization".

I don't know the reason, but I would guess it's because you're recording from the entire sensor in RAW, so there's no slack to move the image around to stabilise it.  (Digital IS -- as opposed to lens-based IS -- means simply moving the image around to counteract camera shake.  So you're capturing a larger area of the sensor than appears in your final film.  If your film contains the entire sensor already, then there's no way to move the image around.)

I assume that if I see digital IS turned on in the other format it remains on when I switch to Raw LT.

Well, the manual states that there's no digital IS in RAW, so I would guess no.
