C80 and R5C: new firmware

Just thought I'd mention this, since I didn't see it in the announcements - there is new firmware for the R5C (version 1.1.1.1, dated 18 July 2025) and the C80 (Version 1.0.3.1, dated 18 July 2025).

The updates seem to be fairly minor, except for the new PIN security feature. You can check the release notes for the full list. (There are CV protocol enhancements on the C80, and stuff like that.)

The PIN is a 6-digit PIN, which you must create after applying the firmware update. However, the second time you turn the camera on, there's a "Do not ask again" option which disables the PIN.

Note that the R5C does the PIN feature separately in photo and video modes. You can even set different PINs for the 2 modes.

Oh, and don't forget to save settings/menus/CPs before updating!

@AtticusLake good catch! Thank you for sharing this. I have updated the announcements to include these firmware updates.

I don't have a C400, but it looks like that camera has an update too, dated 07.23.25, at least on the Canon USA site.
