C400 XFAVC Open Gate?

I am confused as to why Canon's top tier cinema camera cannot shoot XFAVC in Open Gate but the cheaper Canon C50 can. I know both cameras can shoot raw in open gate, but why does the C50 have the additional feature of shooting in a compressed format in open gate, while the more expensive, higher performing C400 cannot?

Greetings,

There's really no way for me to do anything but speculate on this.  I don't follow all of the technical capabilities of the C400 closely.  It's a beautiful camera.  Not sure if it has to do with the capabilities between a 6K and 7K sensor, or some type of feature segmentation.  The fact that it got opengate in cinema RAW lite is pretty decent.  I get it though options are always welcome

I suggested elsewhere that a feature request should be made.  You do this on the Canon USA homepage and select [+]Feedback

This is found in the top right hand corner or at the very bottom in the middle of the page.  You can discuss these types of things here but if you don't leave feedback it won't get in front of the right team.

Yeah, I really wish the C400 gave us options shooting Open Gate without RAW.

I was really hoping they'd release it with the latest firmware update, but it looks like our requests are being ignored. If more people would just post their wishes on the official Canon forum instead of 3rd party forums, I think our voices would be heard a bit more.

I also need to figure out how to edit a raw video file and all the noise that is introduced.

Any tips on editing a raw file and all the noise that is introduced when the raw open gate is enabled?
