imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 won't read ICC profiles after update to macOS Sequoia

Hello,

I recently upgraded my Macbook computer from Sonoma to Sequoia and now my printer is not reading the ICC colors correctly. When I use Canson Infinity Rag for example, the colors and details of the print are all wrong. I tried to download a new driver from Canon without the AirPrint which I believe may be causing the problems but it did not work or I could not find the right driver. Can someone give me advice on how to get the new operating system to work correctly with the printer?

Hi Kay! Thank you for contributing to the Canon Community! I see that you need help installing your imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 with the correct driver.

Please note that even after you download and install Canon's PRO-1000 series Printer Driver, your computer will want to defer to Air Print when you go to add it. What makes things a little more confusing is that Air Print driver is also called Canon PRO-1000 series. To make sure that you will be using the correct driver, you will need to manually select the driver from the correct folder.

I am including a link to an article that has instructions after I explain what you need to do. I hope with the illustrated instructions and my explanation combined, you will be able to add the printer properly so the printer will use the correct driver when you go to print.

If you have not done so, please go to the following website to download the driver for your printer:

https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/imageprograf-pro-1000

When the website opens, please click on the Driver & Software symbol to the right of the picture of the printer. Then, make sure that the Operating System and Version is properly selected under the Downloads section. Further down, you will see the imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 CUPS Printer Driver. That is the package that installs the printer driver.

You can click on the DOWNLOAD button to the right of that file. When it has finished downloading, you can open it. Then, double-click on the symbol that looks like a cardboard box. After that, you can follow the instructions to finish installing the driver.

When the driver has finished downloading, you will need to go to your computer's list of printers. Once there, please delete the printer that is currently available. Then, you can add it back. Here is a list of steps for you to follow:

  1. Click on the Apple icon in the top menu on your computer screen.
  2. Click on SYSTEM SETTINGS.
  3. Click on PRINTERS AND SCANNERS in the left column (you may need to scroll down to find it).
  4. When the Printers and Scanners window opens, click on the Canon PRO-1000 series that is currently listed and then select the option the option that removes (or deletes) the printer.
  5. When the printer has been removed from the list, click on the Add Printer, Scanner, Fax button.
  6. When the Add window opens, please wait for the printer to appear (it may take up to two minutes).
  7. When you see the printer, click on it and make sure it is selected.
  8. Click on the Use option (may say Canon PRO-1000 series), and then click on the SELECT SOFTWARE option in the small menu that appears.
  9. After clicking on Select Software, please choose the Canon PRO-1000 series from the list.
  10. Click on the Add button to add the printer back to your list.

Once the printer has been added back, please click on it. In the window that opens, you should see the Driver or Version. It should be 29.1.0.0 instead of 3.0.0.

Here is a link to an article that has illustrations:

https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/s/article/ART180943

The key to this procedure are steps 8 and 9. You need to click on the Use box and choose “Select Software.” After you choose Canon PRO-1000 series from that list, the computer should start using the Canon driver and you will have all the paper (color profiles) available from Canon.

I hope this information helps. Thanks for choosing Canon.
