calibrate pixma pro 200

I am unable to get this thing to print even remotely correct.  I have printed a calibration image and it is clearly quite off. the blacks are all solid black, no squares, same with whites.  I have gone through surreal amounts of paper and ink and always run two pattern prints, first one for B & C, second for color.  I set colors and the final print is not a match to the test print.  its just always crazy over intense.  I even installed a new operating system on my computer, which has hrd.  I can't make heads or tails of the canon instructions for calibrating, there is no "utility" or calibration on my control panel.  I am using PPL.  I've spent countless hours on this printer nightmare.

I'm replying to my own post.  I have ordered a BenQ 99%sRGB monitor and Spyder4Pro.  Let's see how that goes! I didn't have a clue about "calibrating my work flow for print" but I get it now -fingers crossed. I don't doubt the quality of the printer - just my learning curve has been impossible, maybe till now....

Welcome. I will try to assist.

Here are a few things to try (if you already haven't).

1. be sure you are getting a correct nozzle check pattern.

2. ensure you are using the correct printer driver. If you are using a Mac computer be sure you are using the Canon IJ Series driver and not the Apple AirPrint driver.

3.Download and open this test image in your photo application: PrinterEvaluationImage_V002_ProPhoto.tif. Do not make any adjustments, regardless of how the image might look on screen. Just select the printer settings and print.

4. If the printer is functioning properly you should get a perfect image. Here is the background material for the image: Printing Insights #49

Let me know how that works.
