imagePROGRAF PRO-300 USB not working after refilling ink cartridges, Wi-Fi OK

Hi all,

I’m using a Canon 300 pro printer and I was trying to get the most out my ink before refilling the cartridge but when my grey ink was low the printer stopped in the middle of the print.

I replaced the ink and thought I would just be able to continue printing but now professional print & layout won’t recognize any of the usb cords I use. It will recognize the printer over WiFi, my Mac recognizes the printer in system settings, and thankfully I can still print from Photoshop but the Canon print & layout program won’t recognize the printer over usb.

I’ve tried different cords, I’ve unplugged the computer from both my computer and the outlet, I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the software, but nothing has seemed to help. It’s pretty frustrating.

Anyone have any ideas how to get the software to recognize the usb again?

Thanks.

Hi c3p0,

With Professional Print & Layout open, please click the "Printer" drop down.

Does your USB connected PRO-300 appear?

If not, please click Add Printer.  Does your USB connected PRO-300 appear in the Add Printer window of PP&L?

If so, please add it and then attempt to print.

That's the problem. It used to show up and work fine but since the printer stopped mid-print when I ran out of ink it will only show wi-fi connected printers, not the USB connection.
