Pro-100 has gone blank

dgerety

Hi, all,

My Pro-100 has been great, until today. It has plenty of ink and makes all the right noises and feeds paper slowly like always, but the paper comes out blank. I've run the standard cleaning utility, hoping for dots, streaks or anything...but the paper comes out as blank as when it went in. It's been a week, give or take a few days, since it worked perfectly.

I haven't made any software changes. Wi-fi works properly and my Canon TS6320 works just fine.

My computer is a Mac Mini running Mojave 10.14.6.

What could make my Pro-100 go blank with no changes to anything?

Many thanks for your time and suggestions. DG

After a long talk with a Canon tech, I ordered a new Pro-200. I think a printhead replacement would fix it, but I'd rather not spend the money for one and then find it's something else. Just for kicks, I soaked the head for 48 hours in a mix of distilled water, alcohol and ammonia and then used a high pressure distilled water spray, but it didn't print even a hint of color. I need to use the new one weekly. Lesson learned. Thanks.

Hi dgerety,

Please follow the steps on this page from the manual to resolve the printing issue that you are experiencing with your PIXMA PRO-100:

If your PIXMA PRO-100 still does not print correctly, your PIXMA PRO-100 would require service.  If your PIXMA PRO-100 was purchased less than a year ago, please contact one of Canon's Technical Support Representatives via phone or chat to obtain your in warranty options. If your PIXMA PRO-100 is out of warranty, you are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Monday through Saturday, 9am to 9pm. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.

Thanks, Patrick

I've run both cleaning utilities. The paper still comes out blank. I've shut it down and will give it 24 hours before trying something else. It seems odd that the print head would just die completely instead of giving some clues like streaks. If it's still dead tomorrow, I'll call tech support. Thanks again. David.
