PRO 100 Excessive Ink Usage

DaveLamb92

Hi,

I bought a PRO 100 6 months ago from a fellow who got it in a camera package - he only printer 2 8X10's with it. When I got it home the tanks showed about 90% full.

Then I ran 9 - 8X10's and several of the tanks dropped to 20% (replaced them).

Note: after the above I have left the printer 'ON'

Since then I have made 7 - 8X10 and fout tanks ran out.

So I have set of 4 coming Monday.

Is this typical?

My views is: 16 prints and tanks are empty. I can't afford to runs this printer if it consumes this much ink.

Any suggestions?

Maybe I have some settings wwrong?

Let me make a correction: I am now on my 3rd set of tanks. So am getting about 6 prints 8X10 per tank set.

Not typical for me. How frequently are you shutting down and restarting printer?

I would give Canon a call at 1-800-OK-CANON and chat with them.

I have had it for 6 months - during the first 5 I shut is down after each session (then stated uo 2-3 weeks later). For the past month I have been leaving it on. No real difference in the past month printed about 7 8X10 and the cartriges drained done 65%. I have a complete set of cartriges coming monday.

I did call Canon service a month ago all they suggestesd was to do a full cleaning cycle

Well, if you did that and it hasn't resolved what appears to be excessive use call again and report that.

I decided a good step would be to install the software and update(s)

I visited my local STAPLES store where i talked to a tech who I know and trust:

He said: your ink usage is typical, try printing on standard resoltion instead of high - that should help.

I will give it a try

Here's a test run by Red Rver Paper.

Looks like about 20 8x10 per cartridge.

That is about what the Staples tech said I should get. He suggested printing at a lower resoltion - you thoughts and comment?
