PIXMA PRO-100: cannot turn off alarm light

The power button and alarm lights are blinking alternatingly and the alarm light cannot be turned off. I’ve checked all possibilities for an alarm.

 Sometimes powering off, unplugging and cycling the power button a few times to drain charge can clear. Otherwise it's probably end of life because finding service seems to be difficult and even if you could probably not cost effective.
