imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5850 Only scanning 2-sided

Product Name(Serial Number) : iR-ADV C5850 (3GB05045)

We have a user that sent this email to us this morning:

settings but I cannot get it to change from 2-sided to 1-sided scanning.  So when it scans 1-sided pages it makes them into 2 pages (one page being blank).

I have logged into the printer's internal webpage and don't see anyplace that this can be controlled.  any help/ideas?
