One of our PRO-4000S printers has suddenly started draining the MBK ink (cartridge PFI-1700MBK). In the past, one cartridge would last us months. We haven't had any change in volume of work and yet the ink consumption has suddenly gone up for that one ink.
We installed a new MBK cartridge on 11/17/23 and had to replace it on 12/4/23 -- which was a bit shocking that the cartridge lasted less than a month instead of MONTHS. But then three days later, that new cartridge we installed on 12/4 ran out and had to be replaced on 12/7/23. Any thoughts on what is causing this with no change in print volume?

That was my next step, if this didn't work. 😊

Any chance you can provide the contact you reached out to? We would love to get this issue fixed but my boss is ready to retire the machine over it ... and it's not that old.

Did you wind up doing this fix from the Youtube video? This seems so complicated.

I opened up a case with Canon about it and they covered it under warranty. It is a known issue.
They replaced the complete ink tank assembly on the effected side.

It was actually really easy. Just taking out screws then simply dabbing a hole with some marine glue.

You can email me [Removed Per Community Guidelines] and I can help you out if you like. If you follow step by step of the video you will 100% be able to do it. I grew up on a farm and spent my life in finance, I've never worked with electronics. I saw the printer at an auction for $175 and after losing almost $1000 in ink I was committed. Just take apart following the video. Find the plunger for the one that is draining. Hold to light then take a toothpick and some JB weld marine glue and put a small dot on each side of the hole and let dry. You will likely have a whole pool of ink in the bottom of the ink tank trays. Then take an old tank and use a syringe to put in some ink so you don't use a new tank and find out it didn't seal. Minea been going for 2 years now with 0 issues.
