Hello. I'm not very proficient with printers/copiers so I hope my question makes sense. At our office we have a iR-ADV 4745i. We were trying to figure out if there is a way to use the 'Scan to Email' function as a different user. I know in the settings, a SMTP server has to be setup and a legitimate email has to be used to authenticate to the SMTP server to use the function.
For one of our sections, we setup e-Fax and they will use the copier to send out e-Faxes. The issue we are running into is that when sending an e-Fax, a 'Successfully Sent' or 'Unable to Send' email is kicked back after the email is sent. That email, of course, is going to go to the email address being used to authenticate to the SMTP server. A group email is being used for the authentication for the SMTP server so when a 'Successful' or 'Unsuccessful' email is kicked back, everyone in that distro group is going to receive that email.
We know our users and we know this is going to confuse them. They'll see the email kickback and wonder why they're receiving an email about something they didn't e-Fax.
When using the 'Scan to Email' function, is there a way to have each user authenticate themself so when the kickback email comes, it is directed to that specific person's email and not the distro group?
For example: John uses the 'Scan to Email' function but is able to 'login' with credentials or is able to select his name from a list to send the email from johnsmith @ fakebusiness.com. So the kickback email goes directly to him and not to the groupemail @ fakebusiness.com email that is setup to authenticate to the SMTP server.
I hope what I tried to explain makes sense. If anyone needs me to elaborate more, please let me know. Thank you for your time.
