Hello everyone,
We are currently facing an issue with a Canon PlotWave 3000 after a recent system/software upgrade and would appreciate any guidance or shared experiences.
The device was upgraded to version 2.1.1.0, and since then we have noticed a change in printing behavior. We use PLOSSYS along with Windows print servers in our environment.
After the upgrade, printing via LPR (port 515) is working perfectly without any issues. However, socket printing using port 9100 (RAW/HPNP) has completely stopped working.
Our print servers are no longer able to establish a connection to the plotter over port 9100. Connection attempts fail immediately or show as unreachable, and no print job reaches the device. From the system side, we are seeing errors indicating connection failures, such as the host being unreachable or invalid port resolution.
To confirm, LPR printing with the printer IP and queue defined as lpr@<queue_name> works reliably and jobs are processed successfully. The issue is specifically limited to RAW/socket printing on port 9100.
It appears that after upgrading to version 2.1.1.0, there may have been a change in how the device handles port 9100. It could be disabled by default, restricted due to security hardening, or no longer supported in the same way for external print systems.
We would like to understand whether port 9100 (RAW/socket printing) is still supported on PlotWave 3000 with this software version, and if there are any additional configuration steps required to re-enable it. It would also be helpful to know if others have experienced similar behavior after upgrading.
As a temporary workaround, we have shifted to LPR-based printing, which is working fine. However, we still have dependencies on print servers that use socket printing, so we are trying to determine whether RAW printing can be restored.
Any insights, documentation, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
