Bug Report: macOS Driver Conflict – Booklet Printing on Legal Paper (iR ADV DX C5840i / Finisher-AB1

Hello Canon Community,

I am writing to report a recurring software conflict/bug in the current macOS print driver regarding booklet printing on Legal-sized paper. The physical hardware completely supports this setup, but the macOS driver environment blocks the job.

Hardware & Software Environment:

• Printer Model: #imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX C584
• Finishing Unit: Booklet Finisher-AB1
• Operating System: macOS Tahoe 26.5.2
• Driver Version: PS v4.17.22

The Issue:
The driver blocks print jobs or prevents proper scaling when trying to fold and saddle-stitch a 16-page booklet onto Legal-sized paper (8.5" x 14").

Even though the physical hardware and finisher specifications fully support this length and sheet count (4 physical sheets), the Mac driver throws a configuration conflict error between the chosen paper source and output size, or the machine rejects the format entirely.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open a document formatted for booklet layout on macOS.
2. In the Canon driver properties, set both Original Size and Output Size explicitly to Legal.
3. Under the Finishing tab, activate Booklet Printing and set the job to Fold and Stitch.
4. The application triggers an error stating the layout cannot be output, or the printer ignores the designated Legal tray and requests alternate paper.

Troubleshooting Already Attempted:

• Tested Applications: The error occurs globally across multiple applications, including Adobe Acrobat, macOS Preview, and Firefox.
• Settings Adjustments: Manually selecting the specific tray holding the Legal paper, and adjusting only the output size while leaving original size scaling automatic.
• Cross-Platform Test: The exact same 16-page booklet job prints flawlessly from a Windows PC using the Windows Canon driver. The issue is strictly isolated to the macOS driver environment.

Any guidance from enterprise users who have bypassed this on a Mac would be greatly appreciated.

Alternatively, could the community moderators please forward this to the driver development and enterprise printing support teams? I could really use verification on whether a specific driver patch or a known macOS-specific workaround exists to handle this booklet-scaling conflict on Legal media.
